Deciding to cancel your Stream Energy membership is a personal choice, and understanding the process can make it smoother. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through the steps to successfully cancel your Stream Energy account, ensuring a hassle-free experience.

Step 1: Gather Your Account Information

Before initiating the cancellation process, gather all the necessary account information. You’ll need your account number, personal details (name, address, and contact information), and the reason for cancellation (if required). Having these details readily available will streamline the process.

Step 2: Choose Your Cancellation Method

Stream Energy offers two primary methods for canceling your membership:

Option 1: Call Customer Service

  • Dial Stream Energy’s customer service line at 888-685-7693.
  • Speak with a representative and clearly state your intention to cancel your membership.
  • Provide your account number and customer details for verification.
  • Request cancellation of your energy service and recurring payments.
  • Confirm the cancellation date and request a confirmation letter or email.

Option 2: Online Cancellation

  • Visit HowToCancel.us or CancelWizard.com, websites that offer cancellation services.
  • Follow their instructions to submit an online cancellation request for Stream Energy.
  • They will send a certified cancellation letter on your behalf, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Note that these services may charge a fee for their assistance.

Step 3: Return Equipment (if applicable)

If you have any equipment provided by Stream Energy, such as smart meters or other devices, you will need to return them within 30 days of canceling your membership. Failure to do so may result in additional fees or penalties.

Step 4: Pay Outstanding Balances

Before your account can be fully closed, you must settle any outstanding balances or charges. This may include an early termination fee (ETF) if you cancel your service before the end of your contract term. The ETF for Stream Energy is $295 for a 24-month plan or $395 for a 36-month plan.

Step 5: Monitor Your Final Bill

After canceling your membership, Stream Energy will send you a final bill. Review this bill carefully to ensure all charges and credits are accurately reflected. If you have any questions or discrepancies, contact Stream Energy’s customer support team promptly.

Step 6: Cancel Automatic Payments

Don’t forget to cancel any automatic payments or direct debits you have set up with Stream Energy to avoid any accidental charges after your account has been closed.
